These amazing lures are the
result of several years of testing numerous prototypes to come up with
the perfect combination of shape, curvature, size and colors. The
'FireFish' is a solid lure combining 5 or more layers of glass that are
fused together at a very high temperature. It is then fired in a kiln a
second time to bend it to the proper curve and includes a 100-pound test
wire running through the center with loops at each end. A yellow
and black eye, with a red gill just under the eye, is the important
final touch. The radius of the bend is key to the FireFish's
success in attracting fish. At the proper speed, it will roll one
way then the other and then dart back and forth in the water, simulating
the motion of an injured herring.
HOT TIP: For best results, locate a fish on your fish finder and then tie the lure directly onto your line. 'DO NOT USE A FLASHER!' Put out about 27 feet of your line, hook onto your downrigger cable, and lower your downrigger to just above the depth of the fish. Troll slowly; the lure will 'roll over' and 'dart'. Every so often, put your engine in neutral then back into gear again. This causes the lure to 'flutter', an action which also attracts fish. If you get hits and no hook-ups, try dropping the motor into neutral and let the lure flutter down for a minute or so. This should result in a final strike and hook-up of your fish.
